"Confucius Class" was launched at Sumy State University in February 2010 under the support of the Confucius Institute of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv  National University. The Institute's mission is to popularize the Chinese language and culture worldwide, to promote understanding of the Chinese personality, and to develop friendly relations between China and other countries. 

Teaching Chinese in our "Confucius Class" takes place in groups at different levels of complexity. Among the incentives for learning Chinese is the Chinese government's scholarships for the best students of "Confucius Class" that enable doing internships in China.

Students of "Confucius Class" have the opportunity to take the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) or the Chinese Proficiency Test. The test results are recognized worldwide; they enable one to apply for scholarships for internships in China or to enter a Chinese university.

On successful completion of their studies in "Confucius Class", the students of Sumy State University have already had the opportunity to study at such leading Chinese universities as Shandong University of Technology in Zibo and Shaanxi Normal University in Xi'an.

The students of "Confucius Class" get a chance to show their cultural knowledge and Chinese language skills at various linguistics competitions and contests constantly held at top Ukrainian universities.
