All foreign students are provided with a comfortable housing in hostels № 3, 4, 5 of Sumy State University. All hostels have comfortable locations, for instance, hostel № 3 is located on the picturesque banks of the Lake Chekha and is not far from the SumDU buildings. Hostels № 3 and № 5 are located near forest and river.

Experienced psychologists and highly professional specialists work with the foreign students helping them to adjust to the life in Ukraine and in the hostels in particular. Taking into account, that representatives of about 50 nationalities live in the hostels of SumDU, the university popularizes a friendly attitude to the people of different nations and religion, respect to their traditions and customs.

Moreover, all foreign citizens of part-time and distant modes of study have the possibility to stay in the hostel during the session period.

In order to organize recreational activities for the students who live in the dormitories, a number of sports, cultural and educational events are held. Students and the university administration representatives organize so-called “round tables”, which takes place several times a year, at which various up-to-date issues about life in the hostels are discussed.


To organize the dining of foreign students such facilities are provided as: university dining hall (274 persons), SumDU Medical Institute dining hall (80 persons), cafeteria (40 persons) and buffets in the educational buildings. There is a menu with a great choice for students, lecturers and the university staff: first courses, garnish, fish and meat courses, salads, juices, tee, coffee, tasty baked products and sweet dessert.
